Stauning Distillery
Stauning Distillery is located in the picturesque village of Stauning on the west coast of Denmark. Founded in 2005 by nine friends with a shared passion for whisky, Stauning has grown into a leading distillery in Scandinavia. Its idyllic location, surrounded by vast meadows and near the coast, adds to the unique charm and character of their whisky.
A distinctive feature of Stauning is its use of local raw materials and traditional production methods. The distillery malts its own barley and rye on traditional malting floors, which is rare in modern whisky production. They also use small, open mash tuns and heat their copper pot stills directly with an open fire, which contributes to the complex and rich flavour of their whiskies.
Stauning produces both single malt and rye whiskies, which are known for their distinct and innovative flavour profiles. The whiskies often have notes of spices, citrus fruit, a subtle sweetness and sometimes some smokiness. The combination of traditional techniques, local ingredients and a strong focus on quality makes Stauning Distillery a unique and respected name in the world of whisky.
