Stauning, located on Denmark’s west coast, is one of the pioneers of the modern Scandinavian whisky movement. This special release, part of Berry Bros. & Rudd’s "The Nordic Casks #2", was distilled in 2017 and bottled in 2022. It matured in a Moscatel wine cask, resulting in a rich and indulgent whisky. Bottled at a robust 58.9% ABV, unchill-filtered and with natural colour, this Danish Single Rye Whisky is bold, characterful, and elegant.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Sweet aromas of dried apricots, orange marmalade, and honey, combined with floral notes and a hint of spices like cinnamon and cardamom. A touch of oak and raisins adds depth.

Palate

Full-bodied and powerful with notes of spicy rye, candied orange, dark grapes, and caramel. The Moscatel cask influence shines through with a soft, wine-like sweetness and a hint of dark chocolate.

Finish

Long and warming with lingering notes of spice, raisins, and toasted oak. The finish is rich, complex, and elegantly persistent.

Stauning Distillery
