Tasting note
Nose
The peat is immediately the first thing that stands out. It is clearly present and gives a distinct character to this Single Malt. No Lagavulin or Ardbeg peat, but a smokiness similar to, say, Bowmore. Of course, not just peat and smokiness, nice fruit notes also emerge from the glass. Think grilled lemon or pineapple. Even some banana and red apple are mentioned.
Taste
A nice combination of malt and smoke is immediately tasted. But again the fruit almost straight from the bbq. What an unusual but very pleasant Yamazaki. Certainly not typical of this distillery, but a nice addition to the range.
Finish
Only in the aftertaste is the wood character quite noticeable. Everything is nicely balanced with clear smoke / peat tones.
