Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep ruby red with hints of garnet.

Aroma

Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum, complemented by notes of cedar, tobacco, vanilla, and subtle earthy undertones.

Taste

Full-bodied and well-structured with flavours of dark fruit, cassis, and spice. The tannins are firm yet refined, supporting balance and elegance. Gentle oak influence adds depth without dominating the fruit.

Finish

Long, warm, and harmonious with lingering fruit and spice notes.

Food Pairing

Excellent with grilled red meats, lamb, game dishes, stews, and aged cheeses. Also pairs nicely with rich sauces and hearty fare.

Producer

Château Potensac is a traditional Médoc estate located in Haut-Médoc. The winery blends classic Bordeaux winemaking with modern precision. Potensac wines are known for their structure, depth, and balance between fruit and oak - typical of classic Médoc style.

Château Potensac

Château Potensac is a historic wine estate from the Médoc appellation in Bordeaux, France. The property is situated in the northern part of the Médoc and has remained within the same family for many generations. Remarkably, ownership was traditionally passed down through the female line of the family. Today, Château Potensac forms part of Domaines Delon, the family behind estates including Château Léoville Las Cases in Saint-Julien and Château Nénin in Pomerol.

The approximately 75 hectares of vineyards occupy one of the more elevated areas of the northern Médoc. The vines grow on clay and gravel hilltops resting on limestone subsoil, a combination that is relatively unusual in this part of Bordeaux. Some parcels contain particularly old vines. The different grape varieties and vineyard plots are carefully monitored and vinified separately to preserve their individual character. Château Potensac is regarded as a classic expression of the Médoc: a carefully produced Bordeaux offering structure, freshness and sufficient depth to develop beautifully in bottle.
