Lopez de Haro Rioja Crianza 2021

At Hacienda López de Haro, we are proud of our origins from La Rioja and understand the wine traditions of our region, we want to capture the essence of our land in our wine. Our unyielding dedication and respect for the grape and the winemaking process allow us to transfer the terroir to the grape. Our starting point was the historical style of fine wines from the region, to create a wine with a modern style that is easy to drink. With the complexity of an exquisite wine, where the fruit is central. A balanced and round wine that is a true reflection of Rioja's character.

Grape variety/vinification

This wine is made from Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano grapes. The grapes come from low-yielding vineyards located on poor soils of the Ebro terraces in the Sonsierra region.

The grapes are picked by hand between the last week of September and the third week of October. They are then soaked for eight to 10 days to avoid releasing too many flavour compounds. The wine is aged for 16 months in oak barrels from France, Eastern Europe and America. 10% of the barrels are new, the rest are barrels that have been used 2 to 6 times before.

Tasting note

This wine has a lovely aroma with a mix of notes such as cream, cocoa and vanilla, combined with black and ripe fruits. At the end, you can smell the typical Tempranillo liquorice aromas, with a hint of spice.

Wine/food

This wine goes extremely well with grilled meats, rich stews and mature cheeses. Its complex aromas and flavours complement savoury dishes beautifully, making for a balanced and enjoyable dining experience.
