Pinot gris is difficult to cultivate in the Netherlands, but at Apostelhoeve the variety produces a surprisingly successful wine. Only perfectly ripe grapes are hand-picked and destemmed. The grapes are then lightly crushed and the grape mass is put into the sealed press for several hours of soaking. Oxidation is thus not given a chance. Fermentation on stainless steel tank is done at low temperature (13-17º) under computerized control. The Pinot Gris has an intense yellow color. The smell has mainly aromas of tropical fruit, the smell of roses is also clearly recognizable. The round, full, taste gives delicious fruit of citrus, lychee, pineapple and passion fruit, among others, and is at the same time mild. This wine pairs well with poultry, pâtés and meat terrines. The wine can easily age for several years.
