Royal Brackla 10 years 2014 - 2024 Small Batch Edition #17

Royal Brackla is a distillery with a royal history, as it was the first Scottish whisky to receive a Royal Warrant from King William IV in 1833. This makes it one of the few distilleries permitted to carry the "Royal" title. This 10-year-old bottling by Signatory Vintage in the Small Batch Edition series beautifully showcases why Royal Brackla is so beloved. The whisky offers a delightful balance of fruity and spicy notes, with a silky texture and elegant complexity.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Rich aromas of ripe pears, apple blossom, and apricots are beautifully complemented by hints of vanilla and a touch of honey. Light spices like cinnamon and white pepper add depth, while a subtle hint of oak provides refinement.

Palate

Full and creamy with notes of baked apples, honey, and butterscotch. A light hint of citrus and dried apricots adds freshness, while gentle spices such as nutmeg and clove deepen the flavor. The oak influence offers structure without overpowering the whisky.

Finish

Long and well-balanced with lingering sweetness from honey and vanilla, followed by a slight drying effect from oak and soft spices. A touch of almond and orange oil lingers subtly in the background.

Royal Brackla Distillery

Royal Brackla Distillery is located near the village of Cawdor in the Scottish Highlands, surrounded by the beautiful Moray countryside. Founded in 1812 by Captain William Fraser, the distillery has a long and regal history. In 1835, Royal Brackla became the first Scottish distillery to receive a royal seal of approval from King William IV, an honour later confirmed by Queen Victoria.

A unique feature of Royal Brackla is the use of water from the nearby Cawdor Burn, which contributes to the purity and character of their whiskies. Royal Brackla whiskies are known for their rich and refined flavour profiles, with notes of fruit, honey, vanilla and a subtle spiciness. The distillery uses traditional copper pot stills and the whisky is mainly matured in ex-bourbon casks, ensuring a deep and complex flavour.

The combination of a royal history, a picturesque location and high-quality whiskies makes Royal Brackla a respected name in the world of Scotch single malt whisky.
