Description

This extraordinary Versailles 1988 – 2022 is a rare single cask Guyanese rum aged for an impressive 34 years, specially bottled for Corman Collins. Distilled in the legendary wooden pot still of Versailles – the only one of its kind – this rum is a testament to both heritage and craftsmanship. After more than three decades of maturation, the result is a rich, concentrated, and almost spiritual experience in the glass. A true grand cru among rums, for those who seek depth and authenticity.

Tasting note
Nose

Intense and complex with aromas of antique wood, dark molasses, cigar box, fermented fruit, cedarwood and a hint of varnish. Spices, leather and raisins add further depth.

Palate

Full-bodied and powerful with deep notes of espresso, bitter chocolate, candied orange, black olives and oxidative woody tones. Elegantly dry with great layering.

Finish

Exceptionally long with a lingering interplay of spices, old oak, umami notes and a touch of menthol and mineral bitterness.

Enmore

Enmore is a historic name within the Demerara rum tradition of Guyana. The former Enmore Estate developed into an important sugar plantation and rum producer and was among the country’s remaining active distilleries during the twentieth century. As Guyana’s sugar and rum industries were gradually consolidated, production eventually ceased and the distilling equipment was transferred first to Uitvlugt and later to Diamond Distillery.

Enmore’s most famous legacy is its unique wooden Coffey still. This continuous still is constructed from local greenheart wood and is regarded as the last surviving operational wooden Coffey still in the world. At Diamond Distillery it continues to produce distinctive Demerara rum, including the historic EHP marque associated with Enmore.

Mature Enmore rum and later distillates produced on the original still are highly sought after by enthusiasts and appear both through El Dorado and independent bottlers. Enmore is therefore no longer an active distillery, but a living piece of Guyanese rum history whose original production tradition has remarkably survived.

Corman Collins

Corman Collins is a Belgian family business and independent bottler, founded in 1965 by Hubert Corman and Marie-Jeanne Collins. The company began by delivering fresh produce door to door in the Herve region. Water, beer, wine and spirits were gradually added, after which the focus increasingly shifted towards distinctive whisky, rum and other high-quality spirits.

During the 1980s, Corman Collins opened a specialist drinks shop. Since moving to Battice in 1992, the company has operated its own store, warehouses and cellars. Under the next generation, the business developed into a respected destination for enthusiasts and collectors.

Its whisky activities gained further momentum with the founding of the Taste Still tasting society in 2000. Carefully selected cask bottlings followed from the middle of that decade, initially as M&H Cask Selection and later as Taste Still Selection. Corman Collins is known for rare single casks, personal collaborations and distinctive selections of whisky, rum, cognac, armagnac and other mature spirits.
