Filliers 30 years Barrel Aged Genever
The oldest jenever from Belgium's 140-year-old distillery can rightly be called its flagship. This unique jenever comes in a magnificent case including two elegant glasses.
Tasting note
Nose
Mild wood aromas combined with vanilla, caramel and even marzipan come flying into the nose. Besides the mild sweet aromas, we also smell bitter chocolate, even coffee notes and nice spices like pepper and nutmeg.
Taste
Even after 30 years of barrel maturation, we pick out the juniper delicately. The barrel also imparts black tea and again that deliciously bitter chocolate that we also liked so much in the aroma. Sultry, mild and special are terms that totally suit this almost antique gin.
Finish
The finish lasts a long time. Gingerbread is the term we think best fits the aftertaste. Big compliments to this distillate.
Filliers Distillery
In 1869, Karel Lodewijk Filliers founded his company in Deinze, Belgium, then focused on growing grains. Surplus grain was distilled as an agricultural distillery. In 1880, the licence for the 'gin distillery' came about and the Filliers Distillery became a reality.
Since this time, the distillery has worked with the traditional copper stills. The craftsmanship of the master distillers ensured that the recipes for the drinks were increasingly refined. Today, the recipes are still a family secret passed on to each succeeding generation that enters the business.
