Van Kleef is a historic producer of genever, liqueurs and bitters from The Hague, with a history dating back to 1842. Lambertus Theodorus van Kleef established his steam distillery on Lange Beestenmarkt, where a broad range of spirits was produced and sold. Van Kleef became firmly established in the city and eventually remained as the last distillery operating in The Hague.

Although the original distillery closed in 1986, its heritage was preserved. Following restoration, Van Kleef was revived as a specialist shop, producer and museum, with many historic elements of the former business still intact. Its spirits continue to be based on traditional recipes. Natural ingredients are macerated in grain alcohol for the liqueurs, while the genevers and other specialities retain a clear connection to the rich Dutch distilling tradition.
