Bols is a historic Dutch producer of genever, liqueurs and other spirits, with a history dating back to 1575. That year, the Bols family established the ’t Lootsje distillery on the outskirts of Amsterdam. The early focus was primarily on liqueurs, while genever became part of the house’s production during the 17th century. Around 1700, founder’s grandson Lucas Bols gave the company a strong international direction and developed hundreds of recipes for liqueurs and genever.

Its location in Amsterdam gave Bols access to herbs, spices and other exotic ingredients arriving through international trade routes. In 1816, the family business was sold on the condition that the Lucas Bols name would continue to be used. Subsequent generations expanded the brand further and Bols became an important name in both genever and international cocktail culture.

Today, the range includes Bols Genever alongside a broad selection of fruit, citrus, herbal and cream liqueurs. Bols therefore combines centuries of Dutch distilling heritage with a distinctly modern focus on bartending and cocktails.
