Rock Island

Rock Island by Douglas Laing is an Island Blended Malt Whisky, created as an ode to the whiskies of the Scottish islands, including Jurassic, Arran, Orkney and Islay. Tasting note

Nose

A fresh sea breeze opens the nose, with maritime notes of sea salt and light peat smoke. There is also a subtle fruitiness with notes of green apple, lemon peel and a hint of peach. Hints of wet stones and a touch of honey enrich the aroma, giving it depth and complexity.

Taste

Light yet powerful, with a pleasant balance of smoky and salty flavours. The peat smoke is subtle and not overpowering, bringing out the sweeter, fruity notes. Flavours of roasted malt, light spices, vanilla and a hint of caramel make for a layered, refined experience. As it develops, there are also delicate notes of toffee and almonds.

Finish

Medium-bodied, with a pleasant saltiness and a hint of smoke that quietly fades. The finish leaves a hint of citrus and a light, malty sweetness, with a maritime character that invites another sip.

History

Douglas Laing & Co. was founded in 1948 by Fred Douglas Laing in Glasgow, Scotland. The company began as a dealer and blender of whisky, but soon focused on selecting and bottling single cask and small batch whiskies.

Douglas Laing has always remained a family business, with the knowledge and passion for whisky passed from generation to generation. After Fred Douglas Laing, the company was run by his son, Fred Laing Jr, and later Fred's daughter Cara Laing and her husband Chris Leggat also joined the company.
