Tasting note
Nose
The subtitle reads 'Smoky & Fruity' and that is exactly what we think of when we sniff the glass. Not heavy smoke, but more like a smoking candle. This oily character is also mentioned in the fragrance. Comes across a bit thick. Also toasted nuts and dried fruits, with always that smoky undertone.
Taste
A nice sweet dry balance. The smoky notes provide a dry attack, but the port and madeira provide a sweet hint. Exciting and challenging. Fruit from the BBQ, baked banana and churros with chocolate sauce.
Finish
In the finish, the finish wins out over the maturation. The sweet notes linger longest on the tongue.
Extra information
Since 1994, we've been leading the way in the art of whisky maturation; crafting exciting Scotch whisky by finishing fine spirit in great oak casks.
Selection
The finish takes place in Port & Madeira barriques from Portugal.

Loch Lomond Distillery
Loch Lomond Distillery is located in Alexandria, on the southern shore of Loch Lomond, in the Scottish Lowlands. Founded in 1964, the distillery has stood out for its innovative approach to whisky production. Its proximity to iconic Loch Lomond provides not only a beautiful setting, but also an excellent source of pure water.
A unique feature of Loch Lomond Distillery is its versatility in production. The distillery has both traditional pot stills and unique 'straight neck' pot stills, and produces both single malt and single grain whiskies. This flexibility allows Loch Lomond to create a wide range of flavour profiles, from light and fruity to rich, complex and even smoky whiskies.
Loch Lomond whiskies are known for their balanced and refined character, with notes of apple, pear, honey, and subtle hints of smoke and spice. The whisky is matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, creating a deep and complex flavour. The combination of innovation, traditional techniques and a beautiful location makes Loch Lomond Distillery a unique and respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.
Murray McDavid
Murray McDavid is an independent Scottish bottler founded in 1994 by Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin, and Gordon Wright. The company is known for its innovative approach to whisky, focusing on selecting high-quality casks and experimenting with unique maturation processes.
Murray McDavid bottles whisky from different distilleries, both single malts and blended malts, and often introduces secondary maturities in different types of casks, such as wine, rum or sherry casks, to create complex flavour profiles. They have several series such as "Mission Gold," "Benchmark," and "Cask Craft."
An important aspect of Murray McDavid is their focus on transparency. They provide detailed information about the origin of the whisky, the casks used and the ageing time, which makes them popular among connoisseurs and collectors. In 2013, Murray McDavid was acquired by Aceo Ltd, which expanded their ability to continue producing unique whiskies. Murray McDavid's bottlings are often praised for their quality and the creative way they combine traditional whisky techniques with modern innovations.
