Tomatin Cask Strength
Tomatin Cask Strength is a single malt whisky that takes you back to the essence of the distillery. Bottled at cask strength, without dilution with water, this whisky offers a powerful and uninhibited taste experience. With maturation in a combination of ex-bourbon casks and oloroso-sherry casks, Tomatin Cask Strength brings a full, rich and complex dram, perfect for whisky lovers who love intensity and authenticity.
Tasting note
Nose
The nose is an immediate explosion of aromas: notes of ripe apple, apricot and citrus are enveloped by a warm sweetness of honey, toffee and creamy vanilla. Underneath are spicy accents of cinnamon, ginger and a subtle note of dark chocolate, with a hint of toasted almonds.
Taste
At the first sip, you taste the power and complexity of this whisky. The mouthfeel is full and oily, with intense flavours of dried fruit, orange peel and creamy caramel. The influence of the oloroso-sherry casks adds layers of sultanas, figs and a hint of walnut, while the ex-bourbon casks lay a base of soft vanilla and oak. A spicy touch of nutmeg and white pepper gives the whisky a pleasant warmth that lingers for a long time.
Finish
The finish is long and warming, with a delicate balance of sweetness, spiciness and a hint of citrus.
Tomatin Distillery
Tomatin Distillery is located at the foot of the Monadhliath Mountains, just south of Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. Founded in 1897, Tomatin has a rich history and is one of the highest-ranking distilleries in Scotland. Over the years, the distillery has developed into a major producer of single malt whisky.
A unique feature of Tomatin is the use of local water from the Alt-na-Frith Burn, which contributes to the pure character of their whiskies. Tomatin is known for its smooth and fruity whiskies, with notes of apple, pear, vanilla and a hint of spice. The whiskies are mainly matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, ensuring a rich and balanced flavour.
Tomatin has a strong focus on quality and craftsmanship, which is reflected in their extensive range of single malts and limited editions. The combination of historic traditions, a unique location and high-quality whiskies makes Tomatin a respected name in the world of Scotch single malt whisky.
