Tasting Notes
Nose
Rich aromas of baked apples and ripe pears are followed by notes of honey, vanilla, and a touch of spice. Subtle hints of smoke and lightly toasted oak add extra depth.
Palate
Bold and full-bodied, featuring flavors of butterscotch, apple compote, and a hint of lemon zest. A spicy undertone of white pepper and cinnamon enhances the complexity, while light caramel and malt provide balance.
Finish
Long and warming, with notes of oak, soft smoke, and a hint of dried fruit. The whisky finishes with a slightly waxy texture and a pleasant spiciness.
Craigellachie Distillery
Craigellachie Distillery is located in the village of the same name in the Speyside region, on the banks of the River Spey in Scotland. Founded in 1891 by Peter Mackie and Alexander Edward, Craigellachie has a rich history and is known for its robust and characterful single malt whiskies.
A unique feature of Craigellachie is the use of worm tubs, a traditional cooling system that contributes to the full and complex flavour profile of their whiskies. The distillery uses pure spring water from nearby Blue Hill, which adds to the clarity and purity of their whiskies. Craigellachie whiskies are known for their firm, full-bodied character with notes of citrus, tropical fruits and a subtle spiciness.
The whisky is mainly matured in ex-bourbon casks, which ensures a balanced and deep flavour. Craigellachie produces whiskies that are appreciated both in blends and single malts. The combination of a beautiful location, traditional techniques and a unique flavour profile makes Craigellachie a respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.
Signatory Vintage
Signatory Vintage is one of the most respected and recognised independent bottlers in the whisky world. The company was founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington and is based in Pitlochry, Scotland. Signatory Vintage is known for its impressive collection of single malt and single grain whiskies sourced from various Scottish distilleries.
In 2002 Andrew Symington acquired Edradour Distillery, one of the smallest traditional distilleries in Scotland. This has enabled Signatory Vintage to offer exclusive bottlings of Edradour whiskies alongside their regular independent bottlings.
