Secret Speyside Distillery 13 Years 2012 - 2025 #1237 Fragrant Drops First Fill Madeira Barrique Finish
Mannochmore is one of the lesser-known Speyside distilleries, but those who explore its single malts discover a whisky full of character and finesse. This 13-year-old bottling from Fragrant Drops showcases that beautifully. After maturation, it received a special finish in a first fill Madeira barrique, adding extra complexity and a rich sweetness that complements the fresh Speyside profile perfectly.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Sweet raisins, dried figs, and orange peel, interwoven with gentle spice and subtle oak.
Palate
Full and rounded with notes of honey, dark chocolate, stewed fruits, and a touch of cinnamon. The Madeira barrique contributes layered sweetness and elegant spice.
Finish
Long and warming with fruity depth, soft spice, and a hint of nuttiness.
A surprising and rich Speyside single malt that proves just how well a Madeira finish can work.
Mannochmore Distillery
Mannochmore Distillery is located in the Speyside region, near Elgin in Moray. Established in 1971, Mannochmore is a relatively young distillery compared to other Speyside distilleries.
A unique feature of Mannochmore Distillery's production process is the sharing of facilities with the neighbouring Glenlossie Distillery. This sharing of resources and staff is unusual and makes the production process more efficient and flexible. Both distilleries use the same water source, the Bardon Burn, and also share their mash tun and washbacks, resulting in a harmonious collaboration and consistent quality in their whisky production.
Mannochmore mainly produces whisky for blends, such as Haig and Dimple. The whiskies are mainly matured in ex-bourbon casks, which ensures a balanced and refined flavour profile with notes of citrus, flowers, green apple and a subtle hint of spice. The combination of a beautiful location, modern techniques and a commitment to quality makes Mannochmore a respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.
