Tasting notes by Gordon & MacPhail:
Subtle sherry aromas intertwine with walnut and cocoa powder. Ginger spice gives way to dried tobacco.
Sweet honey flavours complement Medjool dates and demerara sugar. Seville orange peel comes to the fore alongside autumnal spices.
A long finish with red apple, black pepper and menthol.
Speyburn Distillery
Speyburn Distillery is located in the beautiful Speyside region, near the town of Rothes in Moray. Founded in 1897 by John Hopkins, the distillery was designed by renowned distillery architect Charles Doig. Speyburn's location, in a valley surrounded by woods and the Granty Burn, a tributary of the River Spey, provides a natural source of pure water, which is essential for whisky production.
Speyburn whiskies are known for their light, fresh and fruity character, with notes of apple, pear, citrus and a subtle hint of honey and spices.
Speyburn mainly uses ex-bourbon casks and ex-sherry casks for maturation, which ensures a balanced and complex flavour. The combination of an idyllic location, traditional techniques and commitment to quality makes Speyburn a respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.
