Waterford Cuvée Koffi
Waterford Distillery, located in the south-east of Ireland, is a relatively young star in the firmament of Irish whiskey distilleries. Under the watchful eye of founder and CEO Mark Reynier, who previously revived Bruichladdich on Islay, Scotland, Waterford started distilling in 2015. With a strong emphasis on the terroir concept - a methodology more common in the wine world - Waterford strives to capture the unique expression of Irish soil in their whiskeys.
This culminates in the Waterford Cuvée Koffi. This unique single malt whisky is a testament to Waterford's mastery, merging different single farm origins for a complex and layered taste experience. Each sip represents the rich diversity of the Irish countryside, carefully collected and brought to life by the craftsmanship of the distillers.
Tasting note
Nose
The Cuvée Koffi greets the nose with a bouquet of rich aromas. Notes of freshly baked bread, a hint of cocoa and the florality of Irish meadows come together to form an inviting and warm scent.
Taste
On the tongue, this whisky is surprisingly smooth, with hints of sweet malt, subtle spices, and an undertone of dark chocolate merging into a flavourful symphony.
Finish
The finish is long and satisfying, with remnants of oak and a slight coffee note gradually giving way to a final gentle touch of vanilla and dried fruit.
