Producer

L’Hospitalet de Gazin is the “second wine” of the prestigious Château Gazin in Pomerol. Château Gazin is known for its classic, rich, and refined Pomerol wines, with Merlot as the dominant grape. L’Hospitalet de Gazin offers an accessible, expressive introduction to the house style, emphasizing fruit, balance, and elegance.

L’Hospitalet de Gazin

L’Hospitalet de Gazin is the second wine of Château Gazin, a historic family-owned estate from Pomerol in Bordeaux, France. Château Gazin stands on land believed to have once housed a medieval hospital belonging to the Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem. Pilgrims travelling towards Santiago de Compostela were welcomed here, and this remarkable history inspired the name L’Hospitalet de Gazin. The second wine was created in 1986, allowing an even stricter selection for the grand vin of Château Gazin.

The château’s continuous vineyard lies on the elevated plateau of Pomerol. Gravel-rich surface soils and clay beneath provide a steady water supply and contribute to the wine’s characteristic richness and structure. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected both in the vineyard and at the winery. L’Hospitalet de Gazin offers the character and refinement of Pomerol in an approachable style, with ripe dark fruit, gentle spice, supple tannins and a balanced finish.
