Bodegas Roda Reserva 2020

Spain's Bodegas Roda is one of the most representative wineries in Rioja Alta. Thanks to their innovative vision and philosophy, the winery is now one of the top wine producers.

In the late 1980s, Mario Rotllant and Carmen Daurella founded Bodegas Roda together and settled in the legendary station district of the city of Haro. They were determined to conquer the wine world with a new concept. Their philosophy was revolutionary because of the modern concept, their vision of winemaking and emphasis on the importance of old vineyards.

In 1992, Bodegas Roda launched its first vintage, since then quality has been the top priority at all stages of production. Bodegas Roda cultivates 120 hectares of top Rioja vineyards, including 70 hectares of its own vineyards which were all purchased after intensive research into terroir and ecosystems. The vineyards are spread across different ecosystems that range from altitudes of 380 metres to 650 metres above sea level. Each year, only the best grapes are hand-selected and harvested to ensure the highest quality. Old vines between 30 and 90 years old are used, entirely without the use of pesticides and with consideration for the natural environment.

The wine matures for 14 months in French oak barrels of which 40% are new and 60% second use. Then a further 30 months in bottle before it is released on the market. The colour is cherry red and vibrant. The nose is intense with perfectly integrated wood notes and red fruit like cherry. On the palate, the wine is voluminous and round. Very elegant with lots of freshness and a long finish.
