Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep golden yellow with amber tones.

Aroma

Complex and mature aromas of honey, dried apricot, candied citrus, apple compote, and a light floral touch. With age, notes of almond and beeswax emerge.

Taste

Rich and concentrated with flavours of ripe stone fruit, honey, and caramelised apple. The sweetness is full and generous, perfectly balanced by fresh, lively acidity that keeps the wine elegant and precise.

Finish

Long and harmonious, with lingering sweet fruit, bright acidity, and a refined, gently spiced finish.

Food Pairing

Excellent with foie gras, blue cheeses, apple or stone fruit desserts, or enjoyed on its own as a contemplative wine. Also very suitable for further ageing.

Producer

Moulin Touchais is an iconic Loire estate, renowned worldwide for its long-aged Coteaux du Layon wines. The winery deliberately releases its wines after extended cellar ageing, resulting in a distinctive style that combines maturity, freshness, and remarkable complexity.

Moulin Touchais

Moulin Touchais is a historic family-owned estate from Coteaux du Layon in France’s Loire Valley. Founded in 1787, the domaine is now continued by the eighth generation of the Touchais family, making it one of the oldest wine estates in Anjou. Over the centuries, the family has built an impressive reserve of mature vintages, stored deep underground in an extensive network of cellars.

Moulin Touchais produces sweet white wine exclusively from Chenin Blanc. A small proportion of the grapes is harvested relatively early to preserve sufficient fresh acidity. The remaining fruit is left longer on the vines and picked in several stages once it has developed greater ripeness and concentration. This distinctive approach creates a natural balance between sweetness and freshness. Following vinification, each vintage matures in bottle in the estate’s cellars for at least ten years before being released. Moulin Touchais is therefore renowned for complex wines with exceptional ageing potential, and several mature vintages are often available alongside one another.
