François Peyrot Lot 60 Héritage

When we look at this Lot 60 Héritage, we are talking about a cognac produced, in 1960, by Patrick's grandmother, Mathilde Peyrot. She was the second generation at the helm of the company and also the first to distill cognac. Patrick is the fourth generation Peyrot who is now proud to bottle the cognac that his ancestors, well before his birth, made. All these years, this cognac matured in French oak barrels and was finally bottled as brut de fût. Brut de fût means that the cognac was bottled at cask strength.

Proefnotitie

Nose

Floral nose, with lovely aromas of vanilla and dried fruit. Also a delicate nuttiness mixed with spices and peppers. In addition, beautiful wood scent that suits Cognac of this age so nicely. Rancio Charentais, a scent you only encounter in very old Cognac, is clearly perceptible in this very exclusive cognac.

Taste

Once again, this cognac stands out for its fullness and sophistication. Everything comes together here, the dried fruit, the nutty character and the refined blend of spices. The wood aromas give this cognac the length you might expect.

Finish

A beautifully long finish completes this Grande Champagne Cognac. What a beauty!

François Peyrot

It all started with great-grandfather Jean Baptiste who started as a wine grower in 1893. Very small-scale and, even then, with a passion for the land on which the grapes grew and a passion for the wines. It all became a bit more professional in 1956 when grandparents Jean and Mathilde took up distilling the grapes and making cognac. At the time, they owned just 7 hectares. Quality took precedence over quantity all along. In 1971, the François Peyrot brand was launched and later that year the first bottles of VSOP were released under this label.

François Peyrot's vineyard, Les Bergeronnettes, situated on limestone soil has now grown to 25 hectares and is located in the area known as Grande Champagne de Cognac. Since only Ugni Blanc is planted there and everything comes from their own land, they may add the title Premier Cru and Fine to their labels.
