This young but characterful single cask rum was distilled in 2019 and bottled in 2023 by Berry Bros. & Rudd after just three years of maturation. Aged in a single barrel and bottled at a bold 57% ABV, without chill filtering or added colour, this is a pure and expressive example of modern English distilling.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Bright and energetic with aromas of sugarcane, citrus oil and green banana. A touch of vanilla, fresh wood and a hint of maritime minerality make it vibrant and inviting.

Palate

Instantly powerful with notes of ripe tropical fruit, lemon zest and ginger. The texture is oily with a core of cane sugar and white pepper. Subtle spice and a hint of salinity add depth.

Finish

History

Founded in 1698 by the widow Bourne, Berry Bros. & Rudd began as a shop selling coffee, tea and spices. Soon the shop became a meeting place for London's elite, and the company expanded into selling wine and spirits. Over the years, Berry Bros. & Rudd has built strong ties with the British royal family. The company is a court supplier and has received several royal warrants throughout its long history.

Berry Bros. & Rudd is one of Britain’s oldest and most distinguished wine and spirits merchants. Its history began in 1698, when the Widow Bourne opened a grocery shop on St James’s Street in London. During the nineteenth century, the company increasingly focused on wine and spirits, while the Berry name became permanently associated with the business. The Rudd family joined in the twentieth century.

Berry Bros. & Rudd also has an exceptionally long heritage in whisky. Its oldest known own-label cask bottling dates from 1853, making the company one of Britain’s oldest independent bottlers. In 1923, Francis Berry and Hugh Rudd also created Cutty Sark, a lighter blended Scotch that achieved considerable international success.
