Cameronbridge 16 years 2009 - 2025 100 Proof Edition #3
Cameronbridge, one of Scotland’s most renowned grain distilleries, is known for its silky smooth whiskies. This 16-year-old expression, distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2025, has matured in a combination of first-fill and second-fill Oloroso sherry butts. The influence of the sherry casks gives this whisky remarkable depth and complexity, while the 100 Proof strength (57.1% ABV) ensures a bold and rich experience. Non-chill filtered and with no added color, preserving its natural character.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Deep notes of dried fruits such as raisins and figs, combined with caramel, dark chocolate, and a touch of roasted hazelnuts. A light hint of orange zest and cinnamon adds extra complexity.
Palate
Rich and full-bodied, with flavors of dark honey, butterscotch, and toasted almonds. The sherry influence shines through beautifully with hints of dates, mocha, and a subtle touch of clove.
Finish
Long and warming, with lingering notes of oak, spicy pepper, and a soft hint of tobacco. The finish remains elegant and slightly sweet, with a touch of cocoa.
Cameronbridge Distillery
Cameronbridge Distillery, founded in 1824 by John Haig, is one of the oldest grain distilleries in Scotland and is located in Windygates, Fife. What began as one of the pioneers in grain distillation grew into an influential player in the whisky world, partly due to the invention of the continuous still by Robert Stein, a Haig relative. This distilling technique allowed for more efficient production of grain whisky, quickly making Cameronbridge popular and playing a fundamental role in the rise of blended whisky.
Its location in Fife, near abundant water sources and grain suppliers, made Cameronbridge ideal for large-scale whisky production. Today, the distillery is owned by Diageo and produces grain whiskies for well-known blends such as Johnnie Walker and Haig Club, as well as for independent bottlers.
Cameronbridge is known for its smooth, mellow grain whiskies with characteristic notes of vanilla, toffee and a subtle spiciness, thanks to long maturation in carefully selected oak casks.
