It’s a tribute to the wild beauty of the Hebrides and a true treat for lovers of boldly peated whiskies.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Intensely smoky with aromas of campfire, grilled lemon peel, and a touch of sea breeze. Followed by hints of leather, pepper, and gentle vanilla notes.
Palate
Full-bodied and bold, with pronounced peat smoke, notes of roasted almonds, salted caramel, and a spicy kick of black pepper and clove. A hint of citrus keeps it fresh and lively.
Finish
Long and smoky, with lingering notes of charcoal, salt, and a subtle hint of sweet malt. A warm, smoky finale that invites another pour.
Tobermory Distillery
Tobermory Distillery is located on the picturesque harbour of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, on the west coast of Scotland. Founded in 1798, it is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland and has a rich history with periods of closure and re-opening.
A specific feature of Tobermory Distillery is the production of two different types of whisky: the non-peated Tobermory and the heavily peated Ledaig.
Tobermory whisky is known for its fruity and floral character with notes of citrus and honey, while Ledaig whisky is characterised by its robust, smoky flavour with hints of pepper, sea salt and leather. Maturation takes place in a combination mix of bourbon and sherry casks, creating a rich and complex flavour.
The combination of an idyllic location, a long and rich history, and a diverse range of whiskies makes Tobermory Distillery a respected and beloved name in the world of Scotch whisky.
