Green Spot
Green Spot is one of the most beloved and authentic Irish whiskeys, with a rich history dating back to the early 1800s. Originally bottled by Mitchell & Son, it is a classic single pot still whiskey exclusively produced at the Midleton Distillery. Green Spot is a beautiful expression of Irish whiskey tradition, where fruity notes and spicy nuances come together in a silky smooth and balanced tasting experience.
Tasting note
Nose
An inviting aroma filled with juicy green apple, ripe pear, and sweet melon, complemented by a hint of vanilla and light spices. Notes of freshly cut grass and a subtle touch of oak add depth.
Taste
Rich flavors of honey, creamy vanilla, and soft malt blend harmoniously with ripe fruits like peach and citrus. A delicate hint of toasted almonds and white pepper adds a spicy dimension, while a light sherry influence enhances complexity.
Finish
Long and balanced, with lingering sweet spices, soft oak influences, and a refreshing touch of apple and lemon. The velvety texture remains pleasantly on the palate.
Midleton Distillery
Midleton Distillery is located in the town of Midleton, County Cork, in southern Ireland. Founded in 1825, the distillery has a rich history and is home to some of Ireland's most iconic whiskey brands, such as Jameson, Redbreast, and Green Spot. The current facility was opened in 1975 and is one of the largest and most modern distilleries in the world.
A unique feature of Midleton Distillery is the use of both traditional copper pot stills and advanced column stills, which allows them to produce a wide range of whiskeys. The distillery is known for its triple distillation process, which results in an exceptionally smooth and refined whiskey. In addition, Midleton uses a variety of casks for maturation, including ex-bourbon, sherry and wine casks, creating complex and rich flavour profiles.
Midleton whiskeys are known for their quality and craftsmanship, with flavours ranging from fruity and floral to rich and spicy. The combination of a long tradition, innovative techniques and a commitment to quality makes Midleton Distillery a pillar in the world of Irish whiskey.
