Chichibu 2011 - 2018 #4548 Belgian Stout Cask Finish
After initial maturation, the whisky was transferred to a cask that previously contained Belgian stout. This unique finish adds rich and complex flavours to the whisky, with dark beer influences such as roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. This cask was specially selected by La Maison du Whisky and was initially only available there.
Tasting notes
Nose
The nose opens with a luscious mix of roasted malt and dark chocolate, complemented by hints of coffee and caramel. Subtle notes of vanilla and dried fruits such as sultanas and figs add sweet complexity.
Taste
A rich, full-bodied flavour reveals itself at the first sip. Tones of dark chocolate and espresso mingle with sweet caramel and toffee. The midpalate offers a refined balance of bitter and sweet elements, with nuances of roasted nuts and a hint of smoke.
Finish
The finish is long and satisfying, with lingering notes of cocoa, coffee and a slight bitterness reminiscent of a fine stout. The complexity of the whisky lingers, leaving a lasting impression with every sip.
Chichibu Distillery
Chichibu Distillery is located in the mountainous region of Saitama, Japan, about 100 kilometres northwest of Tokyo. Founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto, a leading figure in the Japanese whisky world, Chichibu has quickly established itself as a leading distillery.

Chichibu matures its whiskies in a variety of casks, including ex-bourbon, sherry, and Japanese mizunara oak casks, creating a unique and layered flavour experience. The distillery is renowned for its craftsmanship and dedication to quality, as evidenced by the international recognition and awards their whiskies have received.
Visitors to Chichibu Distillery can participate in tours and tastings, experiencing the passion and craftsmanship behind these special Japanese whiskies. The combination of traditional techniques, innovative maturation and a beautiful location makes Chichibu a respected name in the world of whisky.
