Hooghoudt 3 years Bourbon Cask Aged Genever

Hooghoudt is a historic Dutch distillery from Groningen, founded in 1888 by Hero Jan and Grietje Hooghoudt. In a cellar on Oosterstraat, they began producing liqueurs and regional spirits, with Grietje in particular experimenting extensively with fruits, peels, seeds and herbs. In 1920, she distilled the house’s first jenever, laying the foundations for the strong connection between Hooghoudt and the Dutch jenever tradition.

Across successive generations, Hooghoudt continued to innovate. An important milestone came in 1968 with the introduction of Jonge Dubbele Graanjenever, through which the family company played a significant role in the development of young jenever in the Netherlands. Alongside jenever, the distillery also created herbal bitters, liqueurs and other spirits, always with considerable attention to botanicals and proprietary recipes.

Hooghoudt is one of the few fully independent Dutch family distilleries to have survived from the country’s great jenever tradition. In 1988, during its centenary year, the company received the Royal Warrant of Hofleverancier. Hooghoudt therefore combines generations of Groningen distilling heritage with a continuing curiosity for grain, herbs and flavour.
